Text: Another way for survivors to reach out for support

A majority of sexual violence resource centers use telephonic hotlines to support survivors. Text creates an option for youth, young adults, and people from rural and marginalized communities to use a mode of communication they prefer and offers an additional level of anonymity. This workshop will discuss how text interactions are different from hotline interactions, issues to consider when implementing a text line, and include an interactive piece where participants will practice responding to a text scenario.
