How to “Do” Supervision: Best practices for trauma-informed supervision and engaging advocates in the self-reflective process

“But I don’t really know what I’m supposed to talk about in supervision!” Although thoroughly trained on the protocols of working with survivors within their respective programs, many advocates are never trained on how to “do” supervision. Supervisors can fall into the trap of “checking the box” on supervision time, especially when working with advocates who are meeting their performance goals. In this workshop, we will explore the unique role of reflective supervision in the practice of trauma-informed advocacy. Tips for how to get the most out of the supervision experience will be shared, along with ways to navigate the common pitfalls of advocacy.
