Call It What It Is: Medical Violence Against the LGBTQIA Community

This workshop will go beyond the basics of advocating for LGBTQIA survivors and explore the issue of medical violence. LGBTQIA people are disproportionately at risk for experiencing violence in medical settings. Advocates must understand this issue to effectively work with LGBTQIA survivors. We will examine the epidemic of medical violence against the community, and its relation to sexual violence. Participants will develop advocacy strategies for LGBTQIA medical violence survivors and promoting positive healthcare experiences.
